Event description
We march to support and inspire each other and the nation to celebrate, honor and protect our diversity, freedom and human rights. We gather in community to find healing and strength through tolerance, civility, and compassion. This is a non-partisan march. We welcome all people to join us as we unite locally, nationally and internationally on January 21, 2017, to stand together in justice, respect and inclusion for all. There are over 280 marches in 35 countries uniting well over 1,000,000 people worldwide. This is only the beginning…

In San Francisco, we will rally with speakers, arts and music from 3 - 5 p.m. at Civic Center in San Francisco. At 5 p.m. we will begin our reverent, festive candlelight march down Market St. to Justin Herman Plaza.

Time of Rally: 3 - 5 p.m.

How do I get there?
Public Transportation information is available at https://www.sfmta.com
We strongly suggest that you do not drive, as parking is extremely limited. If you must drive, park away from Civic Center and take MUNI or walk to the event. Remember that you will be leaving the march from Justin Herman Plaza on the Embarcadero, 1.7 miles from Civic Center where the rally is.
There are many marchers organizing buses. Check our discussion board for more information.

How can I get involved or volunteer?
The Women’s March Bay Area is a 100% volunteer effort. Please come to our volunteer training on 1/18 to learn how to help on Jan 21. 1/18: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/volunteer-training-womens-march-san-francisco-tickets-31009243482

No! All the marches should be free and public.

What is the status with permits?
San Francisco is fully permitted and has the full support of all city agencies for the Women's March.

Can I bring a sign?
Yes, sign making is an engaging community activity. We suggest making signs about why you are marching or what you are marching for. Sign parties are posted on meet up and on the discussion area of this event page. Consider hosting a sign party and make some new friends. Flags are allowed, but not on a pole. Posters and signs are allowed, but not with the use of wooden, plastic or metal sign posts. Instead, we encourage people to use cardboard sign posts (or rolled up poster paper).

How long is the march?
San Francisco Women's March is 1.7 miles from Civic Center to Justin Herman Plaza

What about people with disabilities?
We are working hard to make the Women's March San Francisco accessible to all who want to attend. We will provide ASL interpretation of our rally speakers and have a special viewing area right in front of the stage for people with wheelchairs, other mobility issues and those who need to view our ASL interpreters. Wheelchairs should access our disability area via Hyde St @ Fulton on the back side of the SF Public Library. For ease of access with the crowds, wheelchairs will join the march on Hyde St. @ Grove just after the mobility trolleys at the front of the march at 5pm.

What if I can't walk the 1.7 mile march?
If you can't walk the 1.7 mile march, you can still participate in our rally and hear the great music and inspiring speakers planned for the event. You may also sign up for one of our mobility trolleys which will take people with mobility issues along our march route to Justin Herman Plaza. Space is limited and you must be able to access the trolley without a lift and sit is a seat. Sorry, no wheelchair access. Sign up for a seat of our mobility trolly here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/sf-womens-march-mobility-trolley-tickets-31117583530

What if I need to sit down?
If standing is an issue, we suggest that you bring a light weight stool that you can carry.

What about safety and security?
All marches in CA and the National March are taking health and safety very seriously. There will be EMTs on site with an ambulance, we are working closely with the SFPD and will have over 200 trained peace ambassadors to help with all your march needs.

Is it just for women only?
NO! The march is open to all men, women, and children who stand for human rights, civil liberties, tolerance of diversity, and compassion for our shared humanity.

Is there anything happening after the march?
There are some after parties planned for the night of Jan 21. check the discussion board of this event site for more info or start your own after party.

You can help support the march by making a contribution on our website. https://womensmarchbayarea.org/contribute/
As an alternative form of payment, checks can be made out to: Women's March Bay Area and addressed to our mailing address: 2261 Market St. #164, San Francisco, CA 94114.
