Dear friends,

This is an online event and you don't have to go anywhere for this. I would like to invite you to see highlights: selected videos, photos and reviews from a very special multimedia show that I did at Galapagos Art Space, DUMBO, Brooklyn in New York on May 10th, 2012. I had the pleasure to share the stage with incredible artists: Derrick Little, Internationally renowned body painter (www.bodyartbyderrick.com), Jack Dzamba, Multi-award winning photographer (www.icron.us), Tim Daoust, composer (www.timdaoust.com)

8) Stavreva-Cage: "3'33" Time Within Time Multimedia interpretation: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CF3OiVZRQ4A

About the original work by John Cage: 4′33″ is a three-movement composition by American experimental composer John Cage (1912–1992). It was composed in 1952 for any instrument (or combination of instruments), and the score instructs the performer not to play the instrument during the entire duration of the piece throughout the three movements (the first being thirty seconds, the second being two minutes and twenty-three seconds, and the third being one minute and forty seconds). The piece purports to consist of the sounds of the environment that the listeners hear while it is performed, although it is commonly perceived as "four minutes thirty-three seconds of silence".

About my interpretation: “I had an idea of adding multimedia elements to John Cage’s work in order to create a story that we are often aware of. I decided to use 3 elements - a clock, dancers and a pianist. The clock represents time and it is also a symbol of constant rhythm and pulse that is eternal. The dancers represent rhythm and live energy that have their own beginning and their own end – the same way our lives have a beginning and an end. On this video both elements start at the same time - the clock (eternal time) + me and Tim dancing in the rhythm of the clock (representing live energy that is not constant). We slowly stop dancing and freeze similar to the way a life starts and stops within eternal time.

9) Tim Daoust (b.1981) - "Quivering Filament of Incandescent Bulb" for Piano & Live Electronics (2012): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JuoWGXvELGE
