Event description
These interactive workshops are part of the Scottish Refugee Festival. We will run the workshops in two parts. You are welcome to attend both sessions, or choose one that suits your interests. All ages are welcome.
Part one: Breaking Down Borders through Children’s Books  4-5pm
This interactive workshop explores texts related to migration and human rights, ranging from historical journeys through to multicultural books telling tales of migration from around the world.  You will be invited to examine 20 carefully selected books and get involved in some creative responses. Particpants will be able to take away a leaflet that overviews examples of texts from each category.
Part two: Anansi the storytelling spider and the World Wide Web of Tales 5-6pm
This interactive workshop will use the oral folktale about Anansi the spider. Like Anansi you will be invited to spin a physical web looking at how storytelling lies at the heart of who we are. Everyone will be invited to share the stories they carry with them that help make them who they are today.
