Event description
There are many reasons for individuals to find they are no longer as physically active as they once were. A decrease in activity with older age, frailty or a diagnosis of a condition that affects a person’s movement may lead to them spending long periods of time in a limited number of positions. Postural care is an essential element of care for individuals who find that they are able to move less, no matter what the reason.
This new and exciting study day will focus on the postural care needs of adults with long term conditions such as Dementia, Parkinsons and MS. Outlining the findings from independent research conducted by the University of Salford Sarah will support delegates to explore how postural care may be used to improve many aspects of a person’s life from decreased risk of pressure injury to improvements in choking risk.
This interactive, dynamic and memorable training day will leave every delegate better informed with practical ways to improve their future practice through greater understanding of:

Postural care needs for adults with long term conditions
Best practice in postural care
Legislative and government guidelines
Research findings and their implications
Relevant outcome measures
Barriers to engagement
Working in partnership

CPD Accreditation pending
