Are you looking for work? Want to find a fun and engaging way of developing your skills, meeting new people and becoming more employable?
By joining this project you can design, plan and make a digital community magazine using film, radio, podcasting, blogging, vlogging, photography, design and journalism. In addition to learning media skills, you will also develop skills in group working, communication, literacy, digital skills, planning and research - all key skills that employers are looking for.
It is a chance to create a digital community magazine that speaks your voice, covers issues and stories that matter and are of interest to you. You will have the support of experts from the BBC and the WEA enabling you to tell your stories, your way.
Dates
Your Digital Stories - What do I want to achieve?
WEEK 1 THURS 28TH FEB 10AM – 3PM  
In this session you will explore your current skill set, aims, ambitions, concerns, barriers and employability goals. 
Your Digital Stories – Recording, reporting & designing
WEEK 2 FRI   1ST     MARCH    10AM – 2PM
WEEK 3 FRI   8TH     MARCH    10AM – 2PM
WEEK 4 FRI   15TH   MARCH    10AM – 2PM
WEEK 5 FRI   22ND   MARCH    10AM – 2PM
You will use this time to create a digital magazine that will incorporate written articles, photography, print and publish design, film, social media and podcasting. You can focus on one area or work across a number of mediums, thus developing your skills further. The magazine will be available online and can involve local community issues, campaigns, news, reviews, features on local employers, community groups, local events research and fact-finding element of the project is key to the development of employability skills. The media elements will provide you with the opportunity to gain experience in communicating, planning, team work, managing time and building confidence and self-awareness – all key transferable skills employers are looking for.

You will be encouraged to reflect on how your development had progressed, areas requiring further improvement and identifying progression opportunities that could support your overall employability goals.
During the project, the WEA will provide one to one support opportunities through either **** to ****, Skype or phone. Through this,  participants can acess information, advice and guidance to support their continuing progress.
