Event description
Every festival requires stewards to assist with the running of the site, before, during and after a festival. Steward roles at ArcTanGent are voluntary and require a deposit, refundable following the event and on completion of all of your shifts. 
 
TO BE A STEWARD AT ARCTANGENT YOU MUST BE 18 YEARS OF AGE OR OVER, BE PERMITTED TO WORK IN THE UK AND HAVE…
 
•           A friendly manner, happy to meet new people and a good work ethic
•           A polite and helpful manner to deal with the festival crew and public
•           An appropriate level of health and fitness to undertake a variety of tasks
•           Understand that you represent the festival while you are working  
 
Therefore you must be respectful of the conditions of the license and do what you can to enforce the conditions with the guidance of the organisers and super-stewards
 
WORKING REQUIREMENTS
 
•           You are required to work the minimum of three x 4 hour shifts.
•           Stewards are required to wear a “hi-viz” vest on duty

•           You may be instructed in the use of radios
•           You should report to Event Control 15 minutes before the start of your shift
•           Do not leave your stewarding location until relieved by another steward 
•           Only an organiser or security can ask you to leave your stewarding position
•           After your shift you should debrief to Event Control
•           You must not be under the influence of drugs or alcohol
•           If for any reason you are unable to attend your shift you should report to Event Control
 
EXAMPLES OF WHAT YOU MAY BE ASKED TO DO
 
•           Assisting the public
•           Providing assistance in the car parks
•           Onsite traffic control
•           Checking tickets, passes and wristbands
•           Reporting any potential security problems to the security team and event control
•           Being aware of health and safety issues
•           Being aware of fire and evacuation procedures
•           Dealing with lost children 
•           Directing lost festival goers
•           Ensuring the event runs smoothly, safely and in line with the terms of the festival licence
•           Helping the organisers when requested in a variety of tasks
•           Assisting stall holders, contractors, officials, artists etc. with onsite queries
•           Ensuring any injuries are reported to and dealt with by the first aid team
 
The following information is specific to when you arrive on site to carry out your role as a steward
 
 
ARRIVAL ON SITE
 
Please arrive from Wednesday 15th August 2018 from 1200 and before 1500.
 
On arrival please report to Event Control where you will have to provide you ID, sign in and then find a space to set up your tent. You are welcome to camp anywhere in the public camping arena. 
 
STAFF BRIEFING
 
A staff briefing will take place on Wednesday 15th August 2018 at 1700. Please ensure you are at Event Control at 16:45 ready for the briefing.
 
Anyone who misses the briefing will not be able to steward at the festival as a condition of our license and insurance. If you are under the influence of alcohol you will be dismissed from the briefing and will not be able to steward. This will result in the loss of your deposit and you will be required to purchase a full price ticket in order to be permitted to stay on site. 
 
The briefing will inform you of everything you need to know about the festival and your duties while working as a steward. Part of the briefing will include a walk around the entire site. 
 
At the end of the staff briefing, all stewards will be provided with their shift times. Failure to attend your shifts will result in your being removed from the site or made to purchase a full-price ticket in order to remain on site. 
 
 
UNIFORM
 
Stewards do not have a uniform but will be required to wear a hi-viz vest, which can be collected from Event Control when reporting for your shift. Each vest must be returned after your shift. Please ensure you dress appropriately for the weather. Not all stewarding posts will have shelter so consider wet-weather gear for the rain and sunscreen and hats for the sunshine.
 
 
RULES
 
As stewards you are bound by the same rules as those who have bought a ticket to attend the festival.
