Drama in the Classroom: Strategies for Integrating Writing and Storytelling, K-6
Presenter: John Doyle
 Partnership: USU’s BTSALP Arts Access program 
This workshop is a compilation of best practices, strategies and techniques for classroom teachers to integrate drama and language arts. It is for teachers who want to deepen and diversify their teaching practices and connect with their students in fun and engaging activities. Learn how to use Readers Theater, facilitate a story circle and learn simple drama games for critical thinking and class management, and storytelling strategies for classroom teachers. In addition, participants will be introduced to Image Theatre, and aspects of Forum Theatre which will assist teachers in fostering conversation within the classroom. 
K-6 Classroom teachers, arts specialists, and pre-service teachers welcome!
USBE relicensure hours available for licensed educators & university students welcome!
When: Thursday, February 28th, 4:30-6:30 PM
Where: The Auditorium of Edith Bowen Lab School,  Logan, UT


Bio: John Edward Doyle Jr. is a Storyteller, Actor and Teaching Artist. He is the founder of Arts Education Integration LLC, a company that integrates creative arts into the educational setting. John’s passion is in the arts and education and he has the great opportunity to blend those two in his career. After receiving theater training from Carol Mitchell Leon at Clark-Atlanta University, in 1997, John began working as a professional teaching artist, actor and storyteller in Atlanta. John has been a teaching artist for 15 years and not only works with students but teachers, helping them expand their teaching tool box. He has  given workshops for educators on how to use digital storytelling in their classroom and a workshop on activities and games to use to connect with students. John has worked with such organizations as: Alliance Theatre, Georgia Ensemble Theatre, Upward Bound, Boys and Girls club, Young Audience,  Atlanta Street Theatre, Camp Broadway, Fox Theater and many schools across the country.
