Professor Atle Dyregrov is a clinical and research psychologist at the Centre for Crisis Psychology, at University of Bergen, Norway. He is the author of numerous publications, journal articles and more than 15 books, among them Disaster psychology, Psychological debriefing - A leader’s guide for small group crisis intervention, Grief in children, and Supporting traumatized children and teenagers.
Prof Dyregrov has conducted research on various subjects relating to bereavement, trauma and disaster, with focus on children, families and helpers. He has worked in disaster and war situations for UNICEF, Save the Children, International Red Cross, and the Children and War Foundation. He is one of the founding members of the European Society for Traumatic Stress Studies and the Children and War Foundation. In 2014, he was awarded Knight 1st Class, Royal Norwegian Order of St. Olav by the Norwegian king for his pioneering work within the crisis and disaster field. 
Recent publications include ‘What is terrorism? A book to help parents, teachers and other grown-ups talk with kids about terror’ (with William Yule and Magne Raundalen) and the forthcoming ‘Workplace Crisis & Peer Support: A practical guide the emergency services and other first responders’ (with Stephen Regel).
