Event description
Are you a mental health provider who is passionate about trauma informed mental health practice? Do you have difficulty coping with stress after a long day of working with clients? Are you interested in learning more about the intersection of self-care and ethical mental health practice?
This event is a great experiential and educational opportunity to learn about how our clinical work impacts us as beings, the ethical tolls it can create, and how to best remedy these effects through self care.
Through this workshop, participants will gain insight into the historical roots of vicarious trauma, secondary traumatic stress, and compassion fatigue within the mental health field, as well as how self-care has evolved to remedy these challenges.
Participants will deepen their knowledge of the various ethical dilemmas associated with inadequate self-care, develop skills in self-assessment to identify the impact of these challenges on themselves, and add to their self-care toolbox through dynamic self-care and wellness exercises and activities.
This training will be led by Dr. Julie Lopez, trauma expert and author of Live Empowered!, and Lenna Jawdat, a clinician and trauma-informed yoga facilitator.
This workshop has been approved for 6 Ethics CEUs through the DC Board of Social Work.
