Event description

New Jersey Audubon Teachers' School of Ecology 2019
New Jersey Audubon's Teachers' School of Ecology, sponsored by Ashland, Inc., is a week-long program for teachers in grades 4 through 8. The program offers in-depth experiences that use inquiry as a basis for building effective field studies. By connecting the classroom to the real world teachers help students become more motivated to learn science, take an active role in preserving their local environments and acquire critical thinking and problem solving skills necessary to become informed global citizens.
For over 50 years, New Jersey Audubon has been providing experiential learning opportunities in the form of field trips, classroom visits and teacher professional development. The Teachers' School of Ecology models lessons and teaching techniques for classroom use while practicing skills necessary for field study. Teachers are also given ample opportunity to reflect on work and develop plans for including field study, natural system study and sustainability education into their existing curriculum.
Thanks to the generosity of Ashland, Inc., the Teachers' School of Ecology is completely free to classroom teachers!
In addition to 30 hours of instruction, teachers will also receive:

Bridges to the Natural World by Patricia F. Kane, Dale Rosselet, et. al.
A digital copy of NJ WATERS (A Watershed Approach to Teaching the Ecology of Regional Systems) by Dale Rosselet, et. al.
Other hard copy and digital resources specific to New Jersey natural history, ecology and cultural history
