Event description
Urban and suburban environments are covered in impermeable surface, the US EPA estimates that pollutants carried by rainwater runoff account for 70% of all water pollution. But how can the average homeowner help?
A rain garden is a garden of native shrubs, perennials, and flowers planted in a small depression, which is generally formed on a natural slope. Rain gardeners are beautiful additions to any landscape and allow for 30% more water to soak into the ground.
Join us with Extenstion Specialist for Watershed and Water Quality, Mitch Woodward to learn about growing a rain garden and different water harvesting techniques such as rain barrels.
This workshop will be held outdoors, rain or shine. Please wear weather appropriate clothes and shoes and don’t forget your creature comforts:-hat, sunscreen, water
No dogs allowed.
