Event description
This event is presented to you by the New Jersey Highlands Council and the NJ Brownfields Interagency Working Group

With more than 500 contaminated sites located in in the New Jersey Highlands Region, involving at least 80 of the 88 municipalities, it is likely that you do.
Whether you are addressing a site now or expect to in the future, come get the information you need to get these properties remediated and re-purposed for the community. The NJ Brownfields Interagency Working Group (IAWG) was formed to effectively deliver comprehensive assistance from state and federal agencies to municipalities struggling with brownfield redevelopment challenges. The core team consists of New Jersey Business Action Center’s Office for Planning Advocacy, U.S. EPA Region 2 Brownfields Program, NJ Department of Environmental Protection and the Center for Creative Land Recycling (CCLR).

The New Jersey Highlands Water Protection and Planning Council is a regional planning agency that works in partnership with municipalities and counties to implement the land use management and natural resource protections of the Highlands Act.

*A brownfield is defined under NJ state law (N.J.S.A. 58:10B-23.d) as "any former or current commercial or industrial site that is currently vacant or underutilized and on which there has been, or there is suspected to have been, a discharge of a contaminant."
