Event description
The manufacturing industry cluster in the Sacramento region is facing a shortfall of skilled workers. There are more than 2,700 manufacturing companies in the region, and 10,000 unfilled job postings in the past year alone. The region’s education and training programs need to produce thousands of manufacturing and machine operators, engineers, technicians, welders - and various skilled workers - to keep pace with demand.
Community college career education programs play an important role in preparing workers for these middle-skill occupations, and input from industry partners is crucial to ensure education programs are keeping pace with employer needs.
Join us on May 23rd to learn about the interdisciplinary programs offered across the region to train students for today’s STEM careers in Advanced Manufacturing. Manufacturers will have the opportunity to provide insights on the top workforce skills in demand, to provide feedback on education and training programs, and to help identify gaps. Educators will have the opportunity to connect with local manufacturers and explore partnership opportunities to help build industry-valued skills.
Agenda and additional meeting details to follow.
