Event description
Knife crime has unfortunately become rife throughout the United Kingdom. According to the BBC, 285 people were victims of knife crime in 2018. Many of the victims range from the ages of 18 to 24 years old. This large number of fatalities shows the severity of the issue and how the youth of today is being damaged due to this violent crime. Popular dramas such as EastEnders have used its television platform to highlight the issue in an attempt to educate the audience about the risks involved with carrying a knife.
Earlier this year, KMDT delivered a workshop detailing strategies to protect participants against knife attacks that are commonly used by perpetrators. Feedback from those who participated determined the workshop as a resounding success. Due to popular demand, we have decided to launch a second knife crime workshop, which takes place on the 6thof July at 1pm in Roundwood Park School in Harpenden.
The second instalment of our knife crime workshop will focus on how the use of certain body language can act as a diffuser to a potentially volatile situation. The signs, which lead to a physical altercation, are often evident before any physicality occurs. Participants will learn how to detect these signs and be shown various strategies on how to safely resolve the issue using numerous psychology techniques that will be demonstrated.
Upon completion of this workshop, participants will have a full and complete understanding of how to protect themselves against various attacks using a knife. The most of important of which, is the ability to utilise calming words and body language, only using the self-defence techniques if all other strategies are unsuccessful. Participants will also be shown the appropriate technique for any knife attack faced in a situation. To reserve a place on the workshop, click the link below.
