Event description
Target audience: late stage PGRs who have some responsiblity for supporting MA or MSc students (or are likely to in the near future)
This session is designed to give a grounding in the essential aspects of best practice in supervising taught course by Wisker’s frameworks, we will cover:• Relational supervising and how to get started• Helping students to help themselves: fostering independence• Practices for supervising students through project/dissertation milestones e.g. proposals, lit reviewing, methodology, completion timetables• Supporting students with their writing• Cultural competence and supervising diversity• Emotional and personal support and boundary management.
It is facilitated by Dr Russell Delderfield, from the University of Bradford. He has over 20 years of experience in education supervising across disciplines from undergraduate to doctoral level. His main research area is in male eating disorders but he also researches and publishes in reflective practice, person-centred practices in HE, and reflexivity in research.
