This study day aims to facilitate and enhance the personal and professional development of health and care professionals across all care settings engaged in palliative care. Throughout the day we will enable you to explore the emotional impact of being diagnosed with a life-limiting illness for both the individual and those close to them. Discussions of how anticipatory loss, bereavement and grief can affect us emotionally, physically, socially and spiritually. Participants will be able to recognise their own well-being needs when working with others.
Aim:
To gain an insight into the emotional impact of life-limiting illness, recognising signs and symptoms of loss and bereavement and identifying ways to promote grief recovery
Learning Outcomes:
To understand bereavement and the factors affecting the grieving process
How to communicate effectively and compassionately with bereaved people
Introduction to bereavement across different cultures

Time: Registration from 9.15 am. Course runs 9.30 am – 4 pm
