Event description
Who made your clothes and what impact is 'fast fashion' having on the planet? How can we fix fashion to provide decent jobs and keep within planetary limits? In February, the UK Parliament's green-watchdog the Environmental Audit Committee (EAC) published a landmark report on clothing consumption and sustainability. It called for urgent Government action to cut textile waste, improve conditions for garment workers, and to support new ’sharing economy' business models for fashion – such as hiring, swapping or subscription clothes services. The Fashion Common Room and Ethical Influencers are pleased to welcome the EAC's policy specialist Nicholas Robin to discuss how we can end the era of throwaway fashion and create a new circular fashion economy based on reuse and recycling. One where we buy better, buy less, share, hire and keep clothes for longer.
