Join us for an inspiring morning with John Rodrigues, author of the book, High School Dropout to Harvard, professional ice sculptor, public speaker and dyslexia advocate. John will describe his story with dyslexia and ADHD, followed by a question/answer session. Then everyone will have a chance to do some Ice Sculpting.
John was featured on the PBS program “Being You”, and is the founder of ThinkLexic, a nonprofit organization which rethinks and reframes education for the 8 million K-12 students with dyslexia.

John's story will inspire you and your children to embrace dyslexic strengths, identify unique talents, and realize the many gifts that can be shared with the world.  His message is life changing, and will uplift and encourage you and your children.
There is no charge for this event. However, we will gladly accept donations of any amount.
John's book, High School Dropout to Harvard will be available for sale.
FACTS:
An estimated 15-20% of the population in the U.S. has dyslexia, and 4.5 million children have been diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).
More than 52% of the indivduals identified under IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act) are in the category of a specific learning disability. More than 80% of these students have their disability in the area of reading and language, including oral and written expression. Ongoing longitudinal studies conducted under the direction of the National Institutes of Health confirm that one of every five to ten students has some degree of reading disability or dyslexia. The stations in our simulation simulate reading, visual-motor/writing, and auditory/listening tasks as similar tasks might be experienced by a person with dyslexia.
