Workshop Preview:
Clients with histories of trauma, neglect, or insecure attachment lack the ability to engage in appropriate affect regulation.  As a result, they turn to self-destructive strategies including: self-mutilation; addictions; and eating disorders to cope and self-soothe.  As we explore the relationship between trauma, attachment, and a cycle of self-destructive behaviors participants will learn a variety of creative and effective treatment strategies designed to reduce and eventually extinguish the behaviors, without relying on ineffective “safety contracts".
