Event description
This two day course will focus on prevention, early intervention and what good practice is in relation to safeguarding in the participants day to day role. It also details what learners responsibilities are in raising a safeguarding concern.
It is designed for staff who have supervisory responsibilities and/or may be called upon to initiate the Safeguarding Policy and Procedures.
This intensive course during which you will explore the impact that values and attitudes have upon safeguarding work and learn, through a mix of tutor input and group work.
Learning outcomes
By the end of this learning, you will be able to:
Identify what you can do in your role which contributes to the prevention and early intervention of safeguarding concerns
Describe the 5R’s of Safeguarding.
Explain their role and responsibility in recognising and reporting safeguarding concerns to protect children from abuse
Describe the links between safeguarding adults and the Mental Capacity Act 2005
Describe how a safeguarding concern may be managed and identify their role in this
Identify other agencies who have a role in safeguarding adults and explain how partnership working can help to safeguard adults at risk

Additional Information
The prevalence of abuse is such that staff may have personal experience either directly or indirectly. Some individuals may find the course content distressing.
Line managers together with the nominees are advised to consider this in the timing of the nomination. If unsure, line managers can consult the trainer regarding the course content.
If a disclosure of abuse is made during the course the trainer will not be in a position to advise on the specific case but will refer this on to the appropriate person
You will be required to complete the following course Pre-requisites:
Learners should have a basic understanding of Safeguarding of Adults at Risk.
Have undertaken the pre-course work sent to them with their joining instructions.
