Schedule
9.15 Registration
9.30 am Introduction to CHP and the Trainer
9.45 - 11.00 am Talk 1: Managing autism in the classroom
Autistic children might find learning in a typical classroom environment difficult. Understand what some of their difficulties are and learn strategies that are easy to implement and can benefit the rest of the class too. Watch an award-winning short animated film about a day at primary school for The Girl with the Curly Hair
11.00 -11.15 am Break
11.15 - 12.30 pm Talk 2: Primary to secondary transition
A lot of difficulties actually begin when an autistic child goes to secondary school. Primary teachers and secondary teachers can work together to make this transition much easier, reducing the likelihood the child will suffer from anxiety and low mood during adolescence
12.30 - 1.00 pm LUNCH
1.00pm to 3.15pm Workshop: Understanding challenging behaviour
Autistic children are commonly described as having ‘challenging behaviour.’ We will look at the underlying reasons for this behaviour and suggest strategies to manage it. We think you’ll find that once you understand the reasons no longer does their behaviour seem challenging – it actually makes a lot of sense! This session will help you see things from another point of view. Understand their view and lessons will be much easier for the whole class
Refreshments
Refreshments are available but lunch is not provided
Exhibitors
We are offering exhibition space at great value too (just £50).
An exhibition stand means that you will have a table to display your information in the room where the training takes place. Participants will be able to talk to you during breaks and lunch. We will introduce you to the group or invite you to introduce yourself.
If you wish to ask any questions about the exhibitor space, or any other matter regarding the day, please feel free to email Sam Ramsay, Manager via sam@ she will be pleased to help you.
