Event description
In today’s workplace, negotiation is often a required part of the day-to-day activities of many professionals working in the environment, energy, natural resource management, and land use planning fields. While you or your staff may have had some exposure to negotiation, CONCUR’s training will take your experience to the next level of professional practice and enable you to produce more powerful negotiated agreements.
Please visit our website to learn about our work
Date: November 14-15, 2019
Location: Preservation Park, 1233 Preservation Park Way, Oakland, CA 94612
CONCUR’s intensive two-day workshop is designed to meet the needs of professionals who are in a position to negotiate environmental agreements. In this course, we show you how the process of ****-to-**** negotiation can augment traditional policy making with creative agreements that are better informed and more stable. During the training, course members will learn the elements of mutual gains bargaining, apply them in a series of simulated disputes, and reflect on the application of these tools to everyday work situations.
Topics include:

CONCUR’s stepwise model of negotiated agreements
Hands-on simulations focused on environmental issues
Role distinctions: negotiators, mediators, and technical advisors
Ethical responsibilities of negotiators
Engaging your current cases: advice on improving environmental decision-making
Negotiation styles and techniques–tools for effective negotiation and strengthening decision-making
Negotiation case studies–topics ranges from land use permitting and water resources management to ocean policy and joint fact-finding on complex issues

These are available on a first come, first served basis until sold out. Tickets must be paid for upon registration for this discount and cannot be held (purchase orders OK). Our definition of "organization" is broad; we want to encourage collaboration, and we will honor enrollments from peer organizations.
