BRAC now provides all of its after school students with a safe place to stay and work before our Art Classes start at 4:30 in the studio where they can work on individual art projects and/or homework under supervision.
Space is limited, so please register to attend this program when ordering your class tickets.

The Pure Imagination Parent and Child Drawing Workshop
In this class, parent and child will develop deeper bonds and experience greater self-esteem while together they learn basic, introductory drawing skills in order to be able to draw anything from fantasy or reality in their own unique style with the freedom of pure imagination.mn

Teen Project Studio (TPS+2.0) with Art Jones - Computer Lab 2nd Floor
Young Adults ages 15-26 (Free by application only)
3-D Design and Digital Fabrication
TPS is a unique opportunity to experience and learn about the visual arts & creative industries in an interactive and challenging way. It is also an opportunity to meet other young adults with similar eagerness to learn and create. Group projects will focus on stop motion animation with 3-D printed objects.

Young Ages 8-12 ($85 before 9/7 then $95)
Sequential Art
How are Comics and Manga made? How can you create your very own? In this course, students will develop an original short comic story featuring their very own characters! Students will learn about lettering their stories, drawing backgrounds efficiently and effectively using perspective, as well as creating dynamic compositions. Work will be hand drawn with pencil and ink, students seeking additional challenge can add color to their work and will be guided on how to select colors that "pop"! Past BRAC Cartooning students will find this series as "the next step" in their development. Beginners with a strong interest in comics, cartoons, and art are welcome!

Ceramics 101
This course covers clay-handling techniques such as pinch-pots, coiling, and slab building. Students will create and glaze their own pieces while learning about the ceramic items that support our everyday experiences.

Painting, Drawing and Sculpture
Let’s get creative! This class will introduce you to a variety of art materials and methods that artists use to express themselves. We will paint, draw, make clay figures, create & paint masks, use tiles, stones, and paper. We will look at art & artists from all over the world to inspire us.

Graphic Design with Larry Jackson - 2-D Studio 4th floor
Ages 11-13, ($85 before $95)
For this GRAPHIC DESIGN class, student will work on various projects that expand their creative knowledge of design. Students will create incremental works leading to a mini portfolio. The completed body of finished works will showcase the student   concentration on their own particular point of focus. As students create their pieces, they plan, implement, and test their designs throughout the process. With the completed works; students then reflect on and evaluate their work.

Introduction to Printmaking 
All ages welcome! Especially Parents with young children working together!
In this class we will explore different kinds of printmaking methods. We will first learn how to make our own handmade and marbled papers for chine collé then linocut prints, water color monotypes, stencils, drypoint and collographs. We will explore drawing and color with the printmaking tools we learn.

Digital Photography for Teens and Adults with Hosea Johnson - Computer Lab 2nd Floor
Teens, ($95 before 9/7 then $105)

Digital Photography 102 
This course will emphasize studio photography and natural light photography. Students will be encouraged to study commercial still life and portrait photography. Techniques like Natural light, fill light, flash fill, meter reading, color balance, professional strobe and continuous light source equipment use will be covered. This course will cover the basic concepts and practice of digital photography, including understanding the history and use of the camera, lenses, and other basic, light meter, photographic equipment. This course will use Photoshop for editing. The course will address aesthetic principles as they relate to composition, space, exposure, light and color. Technological requirements of digital formats will be addressed, such as file types and resolution. Basic digital manipulations of images will be taught in preparation for creating a photo portfolio of images.

Intro to Painting and Collage with Joel Adas - 2-D Studio 4th floor

Intro to Painting and Collage
We will explore the history of collage as it has related to painting throughout the history of art,  starting with the early collaged cubist paintings of Picasso. We will explore how different and unusual painting techniques can be used in collage and  we will use found as well as more traditional art materials to create our painted collages.

Ceramics with Ana Ruiz-Castillo - 3-D Studio 4th floor
Ages 6-9 with Parent ($150 before 9/7 then $160)

All ages welcome! Especially Parents with young children working together to learn the basics of ceramics with an emphasis on the creative use of clay to produce colorful sculptures. Both the art and craft are explored as participants create uniquely formed objects such as vases, boxes, cups and pots for soy wax candles, as well as realistic and abstract sculptures. Students will learn different modeling techniques such as pinching, coiling, slabs and glazing.

Digital Animation with Isael Luperon - Computer Lab 2nd floor
Tweens/Teens Ages 11-16 ($85 before 9/7 then $95)
The Color of Your WorldDo you love animated shows from Cartoon Network and Netflix? Want to learn how to bring your own drawings to life? Here at BRAC, we are welcoming students who are passionate about art and want to take their work to the next level. In our Digital Animation class, you will learn the basics of Adobe Photoshop to create your very own animated works with absolutely no prior experience needed. Not only will we develop your skills as young artists, but this is also an opportunity to add more unique work into your portfolios. You will also have the opportunity to demonstrate your animations to others through BronxNet.

Advanced Painting for Teens and Adults with Joel Adas - 2-D Studio 4th floor

Advanced Painting 
We will look at the work of the surrealists and talk about what motivated their movement. The idea of combining  realism with dream like imagery to create an unsettling effect will be the underlying theme of the course. We will approach this from a variety of angles including drawing and painting from life, from the imagination and from memory. Students will be encouraged to delve into the strange, the supernatural, and dreams to create their work.
