Event description
Join Tammi to talk about growing herbs indoors all year long, but certainly during the cold months of the year. She will talk about how to pot them up, when to fertilize, when and how to harvest them, and what to do if insect pests show up. She will also share some ideas of ways to use them in cooking, health and well-being and for personal and household care. Bring your own paper and pen to take notes and plan to have a fun experience!
Tammi Hartung has been growing and working with herbs for more than 40 years. She and her husband own Desert Canyon Farm, a USDA certified organic farm and greenhouse operation in Canon City since 1996, where they grow more than 1800 varieties of potted plants. Chris and Tammi grow all types of herbs, heritage/heirloom veggies and fruits, edible flowers, native and wildlife habitat plants and more. Tammi is an international speaker and the author of 4 books, including Growing 101 Herbs That Heal, Homegrown Herbs, The Wildlife-Friendly Vegetable Gardener, and Cattail Moonshine & Milkweed Medicine. She and Chris share their farm with Shrek the farm dog, 3 wily housecats, a duckle of ducks (Hannah and Gretel ), a herd of more than 35 deer, raccoons and skunks, foxes, and loads of different kinds of birds and other wildlife. Visit her blog at to see what is happening on the farm throughout the year!
