Event description
Assessment is often viewed as something that happens at the end of a module or unit, as a test of what students have learnt (in other words, assessment of learning). However, the process of preparing for and undertaking an assessment can be an important and sometimes transformative learning experience for students. This workshop will introduce you to the theory of outcomes-based approaches to learning design. By mapping learning and assessment activities in a module of your choice, you will be encouraged to consider how you could strengthen your use of assessment as learning in your practice.
Learning outcomes:• Discuss different theoretical approaches to student assessment and feedback;• Apply these approaches to adopt an outcomes-based approach to learning design;• Plan assessment strategies so that students’ use of feedback is built into assessment cycles.
Session aligns with the following UKPSF Dimension(s) ():
Areas of Activity (A): A1, A3, A4
Core Knowledge (K): K2, K5
Professional Values (V): V1, V2, V3, V4
