Event description
The it Vanishes Outdoor Club Fall series.  Living in the Simulated Landscape...
The City HIkes™ 2019
This fall, we've partnered with Coava Coffee in Southwest Portland to host a regular hike series through the southwest hills.  Every third Sunday between September and November, we will explore a different trail through the hillsides overlooking Portland.
From anciant mountain views to century old cedar trees, and the forgotten stairways that connect them all, this series will offer a unique experience of the artificial and natural elements constantly seeking balance in the city's chaotic landscape.
The gathering point will be Coava's Southwest Jefferson cafe where we will meet for coffee and pastries starting at 9:00 before departing for a City Hike at 10:00.

FAQs

Is there a minimum age requirements for the event?
We don't have any age requirements.  The hiking is mainly on roadways with some moderate difficulty around stairs and steep section of roadway in some areas.  We set a pace that is tailored to each group, and don't leave anyone behind.

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?
Parking is free Sunday mornings until 1:00pm.  There are a few local bus lines and a street car stop at the end of the block.

What can I bring to the event?
Water is always a good idea.  Please wear sturdy sneakers. Have a light jacket if it looks like the weather may turn chilly.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
Just come through.  We don't check tickets, but we do ask that each hiker sign a waiver, which we provide at the cafe.

What if it rains?
We hike rain or shine.  Rain isn't the most comfortable, but if you wear a good jacket and a wide brim hat, you will find a whole new relationship with nature.  Rainy weather tends to keep people at home, so you get a more personal relationship with the natural landscape.  Even rainy days are good days. :)
