Event description
The S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Celebrate. Educate. Empower! District-wide Event Series presents:
"U BRANDING U: Empowering our students to shape, control, and successfully reflect their best academic and social image!"
WHEN: TUESDAY, NOV 5TH at 6 PM (Doors open at 5:45 PM)
WHERE: Naperville North High School - LARGE CAFETERIA
In it's third year, the Celebrate, Educate, Empower! Event Series will bring another stimulating session to our District 203 families. The event series supports educational goals of African American students and their families within District 203 and is open to all.
This year's topic, "U BRANDING U", will focus on equipping families, faculty, and students with critical skills to tackle challenges regarding how students are perceived and would like to be perceived in:

the academic environment (by teachers and peers), and

in the society (including social media, prospective colleges, employers, etc.)

This impactful event has something for everyone!

Main Session (Parents / Caregivers / Faculty Attendees):

Our Main Session Attendees will enjoy dialogue with our panel as we candidly address the challenges students **** as they balance their own authenticity, expectations of others, and the everyday tough choices that are inherently a part of painting the “picture” of who they are both now and in the future.

Parent / Caregiver and Faculty Attendees will all leave with tools they can implement to help the students gain control and influence over their personal "brand" / reputation.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to hear from our 2019 Keynote Speaker, District 203 School Board President, Kristin Fitzgerald!  Ms. Fitzgerald will share meaningful insights on behalf of the Board, perspective as a D203 parent, and thoughts as leader within S.U.C.C.E.S.S.

District presence will also be felt through the participation and support of other District Cabinet members who will be in attendance!

NEW THIS YEAR!: We are inviting select faculty to participate in this event as these topics are not just beneficial for parent and caregivers, but for faculty as well. This event leverages the community approach (families, students, and schools working together) to create change and provide meaningful support for our students.

Youth Participants (Grades: K-2nd; 3rd – 5th; 6th – 12th):
Youth Attendees will be engaged in age-appropriate programming that has been thoughtfully designed based on the goals of:

Celebrating who they are,

supporting their Education with stimulating activities (including a great STEM Lab for our elementary students sponsored by the Physics Department of Lewis University and conducted by Joseph Kozminski, District 203 Board Member and Lewis University Physics Chair),

and Empowering them in their academic and social environments (including “real talk” discussion session for our junior high and high school student participants regarding the challenging issues of how they are and would like to be perceived in both their academic and social environments.)

Our student attendees will join one of three groups:

Trailblazers: K – 2nd Graders

Innovators: 3rd – 5th Graders

Catalysts: 6th – 12th Graders

Childcare Provided!
Childcare for Pre-School aged children will be offered! (*Please note, youth being registered for child care must be potty trained. Youth younger than pre-school age or those who are not potty trained will remain with their caregivers/parents in the Main Session.)
