Event description
In October 2015, the American College Of Surgeons launched the Stop The Bleed campaign—a special national initiative designed to provide bystanders with the knowledge and skills needed to stop life threatening bleeding in a traumatically injured victim.
Similar to the use of CPR or automated defibrillators, improving public awareness about how to stop severe bleeding can be the difference between life and death for an injured person. This course is designed to train individuals on what to do as an immediate responder in a bleeding emergency and covers the ABCs of bleeding control. The course includes a class presentation followed by hands-on skills practice with direct pressure, wound packing and tourniquet application.
No minimum age is required to attend. However, due to the graphic nature of the material a responsible parent or guardian's permission is strongly recommended prior to attending.
