Sunday, 10. November 2019, Unit 246, Voice work with Christina Gardner

Event description
Come learn to use your voice confidently in front of anyone! Bring a yoga mat for this introductory class.
Fitzmaurice Voicework is a style of voice training that encourages students to use their voice in a healthful and efficient way. After training in this style, students will find they're able to communicate more clearly, and they can speak and sing without their voices becoming tired. This work releases tensions in our bodies that contribute to vocal fatigue and damage and enables a clear and open channel for communication. Fitzmaurice Voicework is taught at Yale, Harvard/ART, NYU, and hundreds of other universities, studios, and institutions around the world.
"Fitzmaurice Voicework combines adaptations of classical voice training techniques with modifications of yoga, shiatsu, bioenergetics, energy work, and many other disciplines."
The founder, Catherine Fitzmaurice, is a graduate of the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in London. She has taught at Yale, Harvard/ART, Julliard, NYU, ACT, UCLA, USC, New York Actors Center, London University's Goldsmiths College, and the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. She also has certifications in several bodywork and energy work styles.
Catherine and the work have received accolades from Academy Award winners, Tony Winners, the Chairman of Columbia Pictures, the Associate Director of the Goodman Theatre, the Artistic Director of Arena Stage, and countless others.

Christina Gardner holds a BA in Theatre (Acting) from Pepperdine University and an MFA in Acting from Savannah College of Art and Design. She is currently receiving her Fitzmaurice Voicework Teacher Certification from the Fitzmaurice Institute as one of the last certification groups to study with Catherine Fitzmaurice herself. She was introduced to FVW while at SCAD when it helped her heal from a paralyzed vocal chord. Since that experience she has been drawn to teaching FVW to others, and has had success with actors, teachers, voice over artists, and public speakers.
