Event description

In an era of Brexit and divisive political rhetoric, children and young people are exposed to a growing climate of racism, Islamophobia, homophobia and intolerance that is having a detrimental effect on their peer relationships.

It is in recognition of this important issue that the University of the West of Scotland would like to invite you to take part in an international conference that aims to bring together academics, policy makers and practitioners to collectively reflect on the current state of knowledge about prejudice-based bullying and how it can be prevented.

The keynote address will be delivered by Dorothy Espelage, William C. Friday Distinguished Professor of Education at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

The conference will cover all forms of prejudice-based bullying including:

Racist bullying
Homophobic and transphobic bullying
Socioeconomic prejudice
Religious prejudice
Physical appearance stigma including weight-related stigma
