SEND training for EY SENCOSs and Managers (2 days of training)
Senco’s who have completed the training since 2014 do not need to redo it. Instead those wishing to 'refresh' their knowledge should undertake the course entitled 'Two Hour how to write SEND plans'.
ALL Delegates must attend both sessions listed below:-

A course for Early Years SENCOs and Early Years Managers
THE CODE OF PRACTICE IN THE EARLY YEARS
(Session 1)
Aims of the Course:
You will have a better understanding of:
Principles underpinning the Code of Practice 2014, including relevant legislation and Leicestershire’s implementation.

The responsibilities of your setting to implement the Code of provision
The role of SENCo
Sharing concerns with parents/carers
And
THE GRADUATED APPROACH TOWARDS IDENTIFYING AND SUPPORTING YOUNG CHILDREN WITH SEND
(Session 2)
Aims of the Course:
To support you, as SENCo, to understand the process of ASSESS, PLAN , DO, REVIEW
To raise your awareness of the variety of assessment tools available
To raise your awareness of Targeted Plans within the graduated approach
To develop your understanding of supporting a child within the setting with Special Educational Needs
To develop your confidence in supporting colleagues
To develop and extend your skills in arranging and chairing review meetings
To enable you to coordinate a SEND Support Plan
All SENCos from settings delivering government funded early years education are required to attend this training, however SENCo's who have completed this training since 2014 do not need to complete it again. A two hour refresher course will be offered for those who have previously attended the full one and a half days training.
