Promoting Mental Health and Wellbeing of practitioners working within Early Years provision 
For: Universal EYFS*
*Universal EYFS = All Practitioners working with EYFS children in a School, Day Nursery, Pre-School, Out of School Provision or as a Childminder
Good mental health and well-being is a ‘hot topic’ in the early years sector with an increasing dialogue on the prevalence of poor mental health and how to address it. This course brings the discussion to the forefront in an open and sensitive way. The course is interactive, thought-provoking and will provide delegates with the opportunity to add practical strategies to their own well-being toolkits.
 
Course Aims and Objectives

To understand mental health and well-being in the current context of early education, including challenges and possibilities (the evidence)


To understand the concept of organisational well-being and individual well-being
To consider ways in which settings/practitioners can promote good mental health through a talk safe and safe space approach
To consider ways in which settings/practitioners can develop a toolkit of practical well-being strategies (the approach)
To hear examples of “lived” experiences of poor mental health in the early years with opportunities to reflect on next steps (trainer, video case studies and written case studies) (the reflection)

To be able to define the five domains of mental-health and well-being
To be able to challenge organisational systems that do not address or support mental-health and well-being
To be able to define and apply strategies to support well-being
To know and understand methods to support well-being through effective supervision 
Develop a greater understanding of active listening
Understand what it means to listen non-judgementally
