Event description
Coming up with wonderful food and beverage pairings is one of our favorite endeavors. We all know that the light fruit, zippy acidity, and gentle tannins of the right glass of wine can take a meal from great to transcendent. Or perhaps it's the synergy of the same meal with biscuity malt, subtle hoppy bitterness, and a hint of fruit from the yeast of an amazing beer. When beverage pairings go well, they heighten the food they're paired with, but they can just as easily clash with strong flavors or overwhelm subtle ones. 
Join our expert teachers for an evening celebrating food and beverage pairings, with a dose of friendly competition thrown in. Each contestant will try to select the best pairing for a menu of small courses. Through this menu you'll learn how to pair both beer and wine with the five major tastes: salty, sweet, sour, bitter, and umami. 
Will hops and malt be able to overcome the mighty grape? You'll be the judge, and bragging rights are on the line! 
NOTE: This class is held at our classroom annex, not our retail location. The annex is located at 67 Smith Place in Cambridge, and we highly recommend reviewing the directions available here.
