Event description

Wednesday 5th February 2020 – 25th March 2020 (no session 19th February - half term)
This 7 week course is aimed at parent/carers of children who are no longer living with their birth parents and have been affected by trauma through adverse childhood experiences. It has attachment theory underpinning all topics.
This course is open to adopters, foster carers, special guardians and kinship carers.
This course would usually cost £250 per person. We are very grateful to Berkshire Community Foundation and The National Lottery Community Fund for providing funding to allow us to offer places at the massively reduced cost of £50 per person.
Other areas of PSC work receive no funding at all, for example our Helpline, so we are always grateful for any donations however large or small.

This course runs on Wednesday mornings between 10.30am and 12.30pm on the following dates: 5th, 12th and 26th February, 4th, 11th, 18th and 25th March 2020. There is no session on 19th February due to Half Term.
Topics covered include:

Impact of trauma
Symptom overlap with ASD/ADHD
Attachment theory
Avoiding and managing stress
Understanding & managing behaviour

Life story work
School issues for LAAC, EHCP, PP Plus etc
Secondary trauma to carers

The course will be facilitated by PSC specialist parenting practitioners Zobia Kalim and Lynne Blencowe.
