Event description
The historic Sound Mirrors are beautiful structures in their own right. Standing tall and strong in a windswept wilderness, these structures were built for a purpose during the 1920's and 30's - to protect Britain’s coastline and listen for enemy aircraft coming in over the English Channel.

Modern day developments have changed the landscape around the Sound Mirrors, but these concrete structures have stood against all the elements thrown against them. There is something fascinating about these military defence systems and how well they have stood the test of time.

The Sound Mirrors are an iconic part of UK history, and many artists have used these to create an amazing backdrop in films, photo shoots and music videos. Usually, the Mirrors are closed off to the public so come along for one of our photography sessions to draw, paint, photograph or even just admire these structures up close.

These sessions are for amateur individuals interested in photographing the mirrors. There will be a maximum of 15 people on the Sound Mirrors island at one time. A brief introduction to the Mirrors and their history will be given at the beginning of the session. No photographic tuition will be given. Please do not expect to be able to climb on these structures as they are protected as a scheduled ancient monument.

If you are a group of more than 15 people, please email email for more information on group visits. Photographs and videos taken during these sessions are for non-commercial use only. No props, lighting, sound systems or drones allowed. If you wish to hire the site privately for commercial use, please email email
