More about Industry City: Industry City in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, is a 16 building, 6 million commercial square foot redevelopment, with 5 acres of open space. It is the largest privately funded adaptive reuse project in the country. Originally built in 1906 as a intermodal shipping facility to support manufacturing and distribution of products, it served as an important industrial site, but over the years manufacturing evolved and left the city, the site fell into disrepair. In 2015, the buildings that comprise Industry City were purchased by the same developers as Chelsea Market.
